Friedrich: I’m Friedrich! Hallo! I’m the tallest one of the bunch. This year I reached 137cm in height, including my simple stand. I love to sing till my clear lights shine like stars over the Bodensee!
Liesl: Hallo! I’m Liesl, Friedrich’s younger sister. I stand 122cm tall, and when I’m not searching for skirts, I’m listening to tracks 5, 6, and 9 of David Hasselhof’s Watch Out for Hasselhof album. Ich liebe dich, Davidddd!
[pause]
Liesl: Gretl, say hallo to the wonderful Amerikanerin waiting for us to put on our show. Gretl!
Gretl: Guuuuuuuten Morgen! I’m Gretl, and I’m going to be 102cm this fall, I can almost feel it in my trunk! I’ve been yodeling since I was just a sapling in my lederhosen, and this year I get my indoor/outdoor lights!
Friedrich: That’s right, for the first time this year all three of us will have our lights, and though our vocal cords are a bit rusty, we shall be proud to stand quietly in a hallway, on your doorstep, or even as the main attraction in your new loft!
Liesl: And no matter where you put us, we’ll always brighten your home (unless you put us outside, ya, where we will brighten ze outside of your home). But now we must say goodbye. [singing] So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen good night! We hate to go, and leave you on our site.
Friedrich: [sings] So long, farewell, au revoir auf Wiedersehen, If we’re too short, go try our new Champagne.
Gretl: [singing sweetly] So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen adieu! Why buy just one, when you can buy a few!?
Friedrich and Liesl: Hurry, Gretl! Let’s go get our bratwurst with mustard before they get too cold! Maybe we can even have some chocolate cake afterward!
