Dear Recruiter,

As a diligent and eager No. 2 Pencil Tree, I am looking for a job in the holiday decorating sector that will use my skills and experience. As noted in my previously submitted resume, I have an extensive educational background and have demonstrated persistence, teamwork, leadership and creativity in my prior work experience.

You may notice that I have not been employed for the past 5 years. This is because new technologies have made my test taking job obsolete. Initially, I tried to continue to work in that industry but found that computers are independent workers and had no interest in partnering with me. I have been using the past few years for some soul-searching and have just completed an autobiography and am shopping it around to varous publishers. My agent continues to push me to get an electronic version of my manuscript, but there is something authentic about pencil on paper that I feel is critical to my story.

At this point in my life, I am now ready to move on to the next challenge. I believe my glowing personality, skinny good looks, and cheerful attitude will make me a valuable asset for any holiday decorating job. I look forward to speaking with you in person regarding my qualifications.
