Dear Kermit,
How have you been old friend? I’ve been reminiscing about those times when you used to play your banjo underneath me and sing those wonderful songs. I still think I should have gotten to sing at least one verse, but we’ve settled that in the last karaoke sing-off.
Hollywood has been nice to me, but it has been pretty one-note. All the gigs I get are backdrops for kiddie shows, science shows talking about rainbow formations, and the annual St. Patty’s specials (you know, leprechauns + rainbows = pot o’ gold). I’ve asked my agent to find me other roles, but I’m afraid I’ve been typecasted.
However, for a while now, I’ve been hearing these voices, K. They were singing our song. It started out as very soft singing, but in this past month, it’s as if there’s a full choir in my head!
“Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
We know they're wrong, wait and see.
We’ve all been looking for the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.
Finally, recently, a group of folks came knocking at my door asking me to be in their weddings! They were singing, laughing, crying, holding hands, and telling me how they needed me! They said my colorful nature and generous girth is just what they need. I was so happy! Finally I get to do something that celebrates the same love, dreams, and happiness we were singing about - to stand in a wedding!
I’ve been so happy that I’ve been singing this adaptation of our little ditty all month long:
“I have been half asleep
But I’ve heard the voices.
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young lovers?
The voice might is one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Now that you’ve found me, The Rainbow Connection Arch,
For the lovers, for the dreamers and you.”
I hope all is well with you too, dear friend.
Loving and dreaming,
The Rainbow Connection Arch
